Actor Mahershala Ali has officially confirmed his exit from Marvel Studios’ long-delayed ‘Blade’ reboot. Speaking at the Toronto International Film Festival, Ali stated, “I’m done. I’m doing this and anything else moving forward. I’m over that, I’m done with that.” The project, which was first announced in 2019, faced years of development hurdles, including multiple director changes and script revisions, before being removed from the release calendar.

Despite the cancellation, Ali expressed gratitude toward Marvel Studios. He noted that the company funded over a year of intensive physical and sword training for the role, which he was able to apply to his new project, ‘Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother.’ He remarked, “They helped pay for our movie, so thank you. We wouldn't, we couldn't have afforded to.”

‘Your Mother Your Mother Your Mother,’ written and directed by Bassam Tariq—who was also originally attached to direct ‘Blade’—premiered at TIFF. The film stars Ali as Latif, a devout Muslim hitman navigating grief and fatherhood. The project reunites Ali and Tariq, utilizing the combat skills developed during the abandoned Marvel production.
