Bassano in Teverina dismantles historic electric cabinet to enhance town centre

The municipality of Bassano in Teverina has completed the demolition of a former electric cabinet that had stood at the village entrance since the late 1960s. The removal follows an agreement between the town administration and utility company Enel, which allowed the power equipment to be relocated to a new technical room built by the municipality. The work preserves the functionality of the electricity network while eliminating a visually intrusive structure that conflicted with the historic and landscape character of the centre.

The demolition is part of a broader urban‑renewal programme that also includes the construction of a new auditorium and an antiquarium, projects aimed at strengthening the cultural offering and attractiveness of the town, which is listed among Italy’s "Borghi più belli d'Italia". Mayor Alessandro Romoli said the intervention goes beyond a simple demolition, improving the image of the borough and making the main access point more harmonious with its architectural heritage.
