Bassano in Teverina municipality disputes court ruling on youth home
The Lazio Regional Administrative Court (TAR) has overturned a decision by the municipality of Bassano in Teverina to deny authorization for a new youth residential home. The ruling follows an appeal by the Miravam Social Cooperative, which had its request rejected by the local administration due to security concerns.
The municipality, led by Mayor Alessandro Romoli, expressed concerns regarding the facility's location within a densely populated urban center and the lack of a permanent law enforcement presence in the immediate area. While the municipality stated it respects the judicial decision, officials emphasized that the court's ruling does not automatically grant permission to open the structure.
Local authorities noted that the annulment of the previous denial requires the administration to conduct a new examination of the cooperative's application. The municipality maintains that political and social concerns regarding the integration of the facility into the local community and the safety of both residents and guests remain unresolved.
