Former football stars Bastian Schweinsteiger and Lukas Podolski held a charity auction in Berlin to raise funds for the Franz Beckenbauer Foundation. The event took place at the Berlin-based shop ‘44Trikots’ and was conducted via ‘eBay Live’.
Participants auctioned various personal items from their professional careers, including jerseys, shoes, and shin guards. The highest-selling item was a Manchester United jersey worn by Schweinsteiger during his debut against Tottenham in 2015, which sold for 1,800 euros. Other notable sales included a 2012/13 FC Bayern jersey for 370 euros, Schweinsteiger’s personal shin guards for 330 euros, and signed football boots from Podolski for 490 euros. Podolski also auctioned a match-worn German national team jersey for 720 euros.
