Pinamar: Boy survives UTV accident and reunites with life-saving doctor

Bastián Jerez, a nine-year-old boy who survived a severe UTV accident in the dunes of La Frontera, Pinamar, recently reunited with Melina Santillán, the pediatrician who performed life-saving CPR on him in January.

Following the collision between a truck and his UTV, Jerez underwent 17 surgeries and spent six months in intensive care. He is currently undergoing specialized rehabilitation to regain mobility and speech. While his recovery is ongoing, medical professionals note significant progress, including the ability to move his hands and fingers.

The accident has had broader implications for the Pinamar region. Following a legal injunction due to the high risk of accidents in the area, the circulation of off-road vehicles in the La Frontera dunes has been restricted. Local authorities are working on implementing a new control system, including mandatory registration and permanent patrolling, before off-road activities can resume.
