Batam Mayor emphasizes legal literacy to address land disputes

Batam Mayor Amsakar Achmad has emphasized the need for increased legal literacy and awareness among citizens to address complex local issues. Speaking at the grand opening of Premier Law Firm in Lubuk Baja, Achmad identified land disputes as a primary challenge to development in Batam, noting that these complications affect both the general public and government infrastructure projects.

Achmad also highlighted a shift in law enforcement paradigms, advocating for restorative justice over purely repressive measures. He noted that the approach is moving away from a focus on arrest and imprisonment toward negotiation and finding middle-ground solutions to prevent prison overcrowding.
