Batam Mayor urges Al-Quran teachers to adopt digital technology
Batam Mayor Amsakar Achmad has called on Al-Quran teachers to modernize their teaching methods and embrace digital technology to keep pace with contemporary developments. Speaking at the opening of the 2026 Batam Al-Quran Teacher Training, Amsakar emphasized that educators must go beyond subject mastery to include classroom management and an understanding of student psychology.
More than 200 representatives from Quranic Education Centers (TPQ) across Batam participated in the training organized by the Batam City Government's Welfare Section. The Mayor highlighted the importance of inclusive learning, urging teachers to provide equal opportunities for all students, including those with special needs.
Amsakar also noted the impact of artificial intelligence and digital platforms on how children access information. He warned that if teaching methods remain outdated, students may turn to digital platforms instead, prompting a need for teachers to integrate technology into their instructional approaches.
