Batangas vlogger faces animal cruelty charges over livestream

A legal complaint has been filed against Batangas-based content creator Hart Yu, known online as ‘Mis Hart,’ for alleged violations of the Animal Welfare Act. The case follows a viral livestream in which Yu reportedly expressed extreme anger toward dogs that had allegedly damaged an expensive pair of slippers.

During the broadcast, Yu was heard ordering individuals to catch, beat, and kill the animals. Animal welfare advocates, including the Animal Kingdom Foundation (AKF), intervened following public outcry. The AKF reported that the dogs involved were successfully rescued and will be transferred to a rescue center for proper care.

The incident occurred in Barangay Bukal, Lemery, Batangas. Local officials have summoned Yu to explain his actions, and authorities are working to locate another dog that was reportedly sold following the incident. The complaint seeks to hold Yu and his companions accountable under Republic Act No. 8485.
