Bath area announces new road closures and parking restrictions

North Somerset Council has announced upcoming traffic restrictions on Bath Road in Langford, scheduled from October 16 to November 6, 2026. The works involve excavating approximately 90 metres of the verge and carriageway to install a new water main for a housing development.

The project will occur in two phases. The first phase involves a full road closure from October 16 to October 22, 2026, between Hazel Dene and the field beyond Elm Grove Cottage. Access will be maintained for emergency services and specific properties where possible. The second phase, running from October 23 to November 6, 2026, will replace the closure with two-way temporary traffic lights and a 20mph speed limit.

Separately, Bath & North East Somerset Council is implementing new parking restrictions in south-west Bath starting October 1. Following local consultations, double yellow lines will be introduced on more than 30 roads to prevent obstruction and improve junction visibility. The order also includes specific time-based parking restrictions on Lower Oldfield Park, Mount Road, and Wellsway, alongside new Blue Badge holder bays and bus stop clearways.
