Bath residents demand demolition of £3m mega mansion
More than 100 residents in Bath, United Kingdom, have formally complained regarding the construction of a seven-bedroom ‘mega mansion’ estimated to be worth over £3 million. Neighbors are calling for the demolition of the property, alleging that the completed structure is significantly higher, larger, and positioned differently than the design originally approved by authorities.
The property was initially approved as a low-lying, single-storey building integrated into a hillside. However, residents claim that after builders encountered groundwater during excavation, the area was filled with concrete and hardcore, causing the house to sit higher than planned. Critics note that the roofline now rises above a neighboring Grade II-listed church and dwarfs the surrounding cottages.
The owner has submitted a retrospective planning application to the Bath and North East Somerset Council to seek approval for the changes made during the three-year construction process.
