Bathroom design evolves through modularity and inclusive accessibility
Design trends in bathroom architecture are shifting toward modularity and inclusive living. The Oltre project, a collaboration between Meneghello Paolelli and Cesana, introduces a new equipped column system designed to expand the functionality of traditional shower enclosures. This modular system uses an aluminum profile to organize vertical space, offering customizable heights and adjustable shelving without requiring wall drilling.
Parallel to these aesthetic developments is the growing importance of ‘aging in place’ design. As life expectancy increases, there is a rising demand for domestic spaces that can adapt to changing mobility and autonomy needs. In the context of inclusive design, the bathroom is identified as a critical area where adaptability is essential. This involves designing environments that can be progressively modified to ensure safety and accessibility as users' physical requirements evolve over time.
