Homeowners are updating showers and bathrooms to improve daily comfort, safety, and ease of use. Practical upgrades such as better layouts, low‑threshold doors, improved lighting and organized storage help families, seniors and people with limited mobility.

A 2025 Houzz Bathroom Trends Study found 36 % of renovated bathrooms added wellness‑focused features. Upgraded lighting led the list, followed by soaking tubs, spa‑style baths, water features, spacious showers and natural light. Designers are emphasizing built‑in tubs, warm‑toned materials like terracotta, mushroom and honed stone, and tactile finishes that create a softer, more inviting atmosphere.
