Bathurst Correctional Centre inmate hospitalized after alleged stabbing
An inmate was taken to the hospital in stable condition following an alleged stabbing at Bathurst Correctional Centre on Wednesday, August 26, 2026.
Emergency services, including multiple ambulances and police vehicles, attended the facility. A TOLL Ambulance Helicopter was deployed to the scene, landing on vacant land near Vittoria Street at approximately 6:30 pm. To facilitate a safe ascent for the helicopter, police halted traffic in both directions on Vittoria Street at 7:10 pm.
Corrective Services NSW confirmed that both NSW Police and Corrective Services NSW are investigating the incident. The specific nature of the inmate's injuries has not been disclosed.
