Bathurst Council approves new electronic billboard in Meadow Flat

A new electronic billboard is set to be installed on the highway between Bathurst and Sydney in Meadow Flat. The digital sign will replace an original 7.8-metre double-sided billboard that was approved by the Evans Shire Council in 2000.

The new billboard will be smaller in both height and display face size compared to its predecessor. It will feature remote programming and automatic luminance adjustments based on natural light levels and the time of day. Operation is restricted to daily hours between 6am and 9pm.

To ensure motorist safety, Bathurst Council has imposed several strict operational conditions. These include a minimum dwell time of 30 seconds per advertisement, a prohibition on flashing, pulsing, or strobing effects, and a limit of 10 elements per advertisement. Additionally, transitions between ads must occur within 100 milliseconds without using fade, zoom, or fly-in effects. The content must not mimic traffic signs or include offensive or emotional material.
