Batman Airport marks 16 years of service and gains international status
Batman Airport has marked 16 years of service since its modernization by the State Airports Authority (DHMİ) on August 29, 2010. Over this period, the airport has facilitated approximately 7.8 million passengers, 60,000 aircraft flights, and 76,000 tons of cargo traffic.
In 2025, the airport reached significant milestones, serving 737,301 passengers and handling 7,576 tons of cargo. The flight traffic record was previously set in 2018 with 4,671 flights. The airport's network has expanded to include direct flights to Istanbul (both Istanbul Airport and Sabiha Gökçen), Ankara (Esenboğa), as well as new routes to Izmir (Adnan Menderes) and Antalya during 2025 and 2026.
A presidential decision published in the Official Gazette on July 11, 2026, designated Batman Airport as a ‘Permanent Air Border Gate,’ granting it the status required to conduct international flight operations.
