Norwich: Batman cosplayer recovers stolen handbag after chase

Sonni Mason, a 25-year-old man dressed as Batman, successfully recovered a stolen handbag in Norwich, England, during a superhero-themed birthday celebration. The incident began outside a bar on Queen Street when a man, following a dispute over cigarettes, snatched a woman's bag and fled.

Mason led a pursuit alongside friends dressed as other comic book characters, including Mr. Fantastic, Poison Ivy, and Cyclops. The group flagged down local police officers to report the robbery. Although the suspect managed to evade capture and discard the bag, the group located the stolen item approximately 300 meters away on a high flint wall at the perimeter of Norwich Cathedral.

After an initial unsuccessful attempt to retrieve the bag using a makeshift tool made from a toilet roll tube, Mason scaled the wall with assistance from a friend. He successfully retrieved the handbag and returned it to the owner with all contents intact. Norfolk Police confirmed that while the property was recovered, no arrests were made in connection with the theft.
