Batman hosts 5th Gercüş Grape Harvest and Gastronomy Festival

The 5th Gercüş Grape Harvest and Gastronomy Festival was held in the Gercüş district of Batman. Organized by the District Governor's Office and Gercüş Municipality, the event featured local products such as grapes, walnut sausage, sumac, grape sherbet, and pestil. Approximately 2 tons of grapes were distributed during the festivities.

Deputy Minister of Treasury and Finance Zekeriya Kaya and Batman Governor Ekrem Canalp attended the event, participating in traditional activities like grape harvesting and making walnut sausage. Governor Canalp noted the significant growth in festival attendance, stating that visitor numbers have risen from 8,000 in 2022 to an estimated 55,000 for the 2025 period, attracting guests from across Turkey.

In addition to the culinary displays, the festival included entertainment for children and local food specialties, such as wood-fired chicken döner, which has gained popularity among visitors from surrounding regions like Silvan due to its unique preparation method.
