Batman Municipality conducts traffic safety upgrades and manages infrastructure delays

Batman Municipality is conducting extensive maintenance and renewal of traffic safety infrastructure across the city. The Transportation Services Directorate is updating road markings, pedestrian crossings, speed bumps, and directional signs to improve driver and pedestrian safety. Key areas of work include Gültepe, Akyürek, and Pazaryeri neighborhoods, with specific focus on school zones and major intersections. Some sections of Recep Tayyip Erdoğan Boulevard have been temporarily closed due to ongoing roadwork, and authorities have advised motorists to use alternative routes.

Simultaneously, local residents and business owners are expressing frustration over the delayed opening of a new pedestrian underpass at the Batman Station. Although the 84-meter-long, 4.5-meter-wide structure was intended to replace an old passage plagued by water leaks, its completion has stalled for months despite previous assurances of a near-term opening. The closure of the underpass is forcing commuters to take longer routes between the Akyürek and Çarşı neighborhoods, impacting daily transit and local commerce.
