Batman Municipality implements environmental and infrastructure projects

Batman Municipality is implementing several municipal initiatives focused on environmental sustainability, public safety, and infrastructure development.

Under the ‘Zero Waste’ project, an award-winning inter-school campaign collected 1,327 kilograms of waste batteries between October 2025 and April 2026. The collected materials were sent to the Association of Portable Battery Producers and Importers (TAP) for recycling and proper disposal. Collection points included schools, phone repair shops, and mobile waste centers.

In terms of public safety and social welfare, authorities are expanding the ‘Batman Model’ for addiction prevention. This program includes training for gendarmerie personnel in Beşiri to improve early detection and inter-agency coordination between health, security, and social services.

Infrastructure works are also underway, including maintenance of school surroundings to ensure safe student transit and the final stages of constructing a new 84-meter pedestrian underpass by TCDD. The new underpass aims to resolve long-standing water leakage issues and improve connectivity between the Akyürek and Çarşı neighborhoods.
