Batman signs infrastructure deal for major greenhouse industrial zone

Infrastructure contracts have been signed for the Agriculture-Based Specialized Greenhouse Organized Industrial Zone (OTB) in Batman, Turkey. Located in the Kocalar Village area, the project covers approximately 113.5 hectares and aims to modernize regional agricultural production through technology-driven methods, including soilless farming.

Infrastructure construction is expected to be completed within 275 days. Once fully operational, the facility targets an annual production of 30,000 tons of high-quality vegetables, contributing an estimated 1 billion TL in annual value to the economy. The center will integrate production, packaging, cold storage, and logistics.

The project also carries significant social objectives, aiming to create 1,500 jobs, with 75 percent of the workforce designated for women. Batman Governor Ekrem Canalp stated that the goal is to transform the Batman Creek Valley into a ‘Greenhouse Valley’ for Turkey, with plans to eventually reach 24,000 decares of greenhouse area through multiple projects.
