Batmobile from ‘Batman Returns’ to be auctioned in Los Angeles
The original ‘hero car’ Batmobile used in the 1992 film ‘Batman Returns’ is scheduled to be sold at auction in Los Angeles on November 23. The auction, organized by Julien's Auctions and Turner Classic Movies, will be available both in person and online.
This specific vehicle is identified as the primary car used for the majority of the film's driving scenes, distinguishing it from replicas or secondary models. The car features a fiberglass body built on two joined Chevrolet Impala chassis, a Chevrolet V8 engine, and a three-speed automatic transmission. It has previously been displayed at the Marconi Automotive Museum.
Experts estimate the vehicle will sell for between US$ 5 million and US$ 7 million. This potential sale could surpass the US$ 4.6 million paid in 2013 for the original Batmobile from the 1960s television series.
