Batna authorities arrest two women over Quran desecration video

Security services in Batna, Algeria, have arrested two women, aged 51 and 32, following the circulation of a video on social media appearing to show the desecration of the Quran. The video depicts a woman insulting the holy book while placing her hand on it, an act that sparked widespread public indignation.

The investigation was initiated by the cybercrime unit of the Batna judicial police, which used digital analysis to identify the suspects after they were reported by social media users. The two women are currently under judicial investigation.
