Baton Rouge I-10 traffic halted by overturned 18-wheeler
An overturned 18-wheeler caused major traffic disruptions on Interstate 10 in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, on Wednesday morning, September 9. The accident occurred around 4 a.m. between the Dalrymple Drive and Washington Street exits.
The crash resulted in the complete closure of I-10 West at Dalrymple Drive and the closure of two right lanes on the eastbound side. Traffic congestion stretched for miles in both directions, impacting commuters and travelers crossing the Mississippi River Bridge from areas such as Lafayette and Acadiana.
At least one person was transported to a hospital in serious condition. Westbound motorists were being diverted at South Acadian Thruway, and the resulting backups affected traffic near LSU and downtown Baton Rouge.
