Baton Rouge police linked to two arrests: officer charged with data leak, woman charged after teen shooting

Baton Rouge Police Department corporal Joanell Robinson, 41, was arrested on 20 counts of trespassing against state computers and 20 counts of malfeasance after allegedly accessing law‑enforcement databases and providing private officer information to a known drug dealer. The Louisiana Bureau of Investigations, with FBI assistance, investigated the case. Attorney General Liz Murrill said the databases exist to protect the public and thanked the FBI for its help.

Separately, Charlitria Thomas, 31, was taken into custody in Mississippi after allegedly driving her 15‑year‑old boyfriend across state lines to evade police following a shooting in which the teen wounded her in the face. The teenager was later arrested on charges including attempted second‑degree murder and illegal firearm possession. Thomas faces charges of attempted second‑degree murder, illegal weapon use and accessory after the fact.
