Baton Rouge sees new business openings and urban development plans
The Baton Rouge Capital Region is seeing a wave of new business openings and urban development initiatives. Recent August debuts include the Gotcha Claw Machine Arcade on Siegen Lane, a concept inspired by Asian culture, and The Red Stitch, a needlepoint shop and social space located in Jefferson Plaza. Additionally, House Brew has transitioned from a coffee pop-up to a permanent brick-and-mortar location downtown, offering coffee and various food items.
On a broader civic level, Baton Rouge is preparing for several major projects aimed at regional growth. These include leadership changes at BREC, conservancy work for City Park and its lakes, and efforts to rethink the future of the Raising Cane’s River Center. Butch Spyridon, who previously led the Baton Rouge Area Convention and Visitors Bureau before a long tenure in Nashville, is returning to assist with the River Center revitalization efforts.
