Batsheva Dance Company performs at Madrid's Teatros del Canal

The Batsheva Dance Company, an Israeli contemporary dance organization, performed at Teatros del Canal in Madrid from October 15 to 17, 2026. Led by artistic director Lior Avizoor with choreography by Ohad Naharin, the performances featured music by various composers including Gavin Bryars and Angelo Baladamenti.

The visit occurred amidst significant geopolitical tensions regarding the conflict in Gaza and the Palestinian people. While the company is a private non-profit, it receives subsidies from the Israeli state. The company and its members have addressed these political associations, with lead choreographer Ohad Naharin having a history of public opposition to war.
