Battalgazi Municipality in Malatya Launches Nuri Berk Multi‑Purpose Mourning House
Battalgazi Municipality in Malatya signed a protocol with Mayor Bayram Taşkın and council member and philanthropist Kenan Berk to build the Nuri Berk Taziye Evi in Yıldıztepe Mahallesi. Kenan Berk will fund the construction while the municipality manages permits and technical work. Once completed, the facility will be offered free of charge to residents and will serve both as a mourning house and a year‑round multi‑purpose community centre.
The project is part of a broader municipal programme that has already opened mourning houses in Hasırcılar and Göztepe neighbourhoods, completed a centre in Selçuklu, and continues construction in İskender, Çöşnük, Mustafapaşa and Alacakapı. Officials say the new centre will meet an important local need after recent rezoning of the area.
