Battaramulla man arrested in Rs. 40 million Canada job fraud scheme
A 65-year-old man from Battaramulla has been arrested for allegedly defrauding citizens of approximately Rs. 40 million through a fake employment scheme. The suspect reportedly lured victims with false promises of securing jobs in Canada.
The arrest followed numerous complaints from individuals who paid large sums of money in hopes of overseas placement but received neither employment nor refunds. Authorities are continuing investigations to determine the full scale of the fraud and have urged any additional victims to come forward.
