Battery technology breakthrough promises 1,000 km range for EVs

Researchers have achieved a breakthrough in battery chemistry that could significantly improve electric vehicle performance. Current lithium-ion batteries rely on a liquid electrolyte that can become viscous in extreme cold or struggle with rapid charging, leading to reduced range and slower charging speeds in harsh weather.

New developments in battery types aim to overcome these physical limitations, potentially offering ranges of up to 1,000 km on a single charge and addressing the issues caused by temperature fluctuations. These new battery technologies are expected to reach the market as early as next year.
