Battle of Rande: Historical research explores lost treasure

Manuel Jesús Feria Ponce, the secretary of the Punta Umbría City Council, has conducted historical research into the Battle of Rande. Inspired by childhood interest in maritime adventures, Feria Ponce utilized his master's degree in Historical Heritage to investigate the event through various archival sources, including the Vigo City Council records and the Archive of the Kingdom of Galicia.

His findings, published in FARO, suggest that the majority of the treasure from the Anglo-Dutch fleet attack was successfully unloaded before the conflict. The research also highlights the significant fiscal measures the English had to implement after failing to secure the spoils they had previously claimed.
