Battlefield REDSEC announces Rapid Royale mode and Proximity Chat
Electronic Arts and Battlefield Studios have announced a series of updates for Battlefield REDSEC scheduled for September. A major addition is the introduction of the Rapid Royale mode in Season 5. This new Battle Royale variant is designed for faster gameplay, featuring smaller player counts, reduced play areas, faster-moving circles, and shorter match durations to increase combat frequency.
On September 15, the game will introduce its first version of Proximity Chat, initially available in Battle Royale mode. This feature allows players to hear nearby squads, potentially altering match outcomes through unexpected interactions. Developers plan to collect player feedback regarding audio range, clarity, and moderation tools before further expanding the feature.
The competitive landscape is also expanding. Season 4 Cash Cups will run from September 19 to October 10, offering a total prize pool of $150,000 USD split across the APAC, EMEA, and Americas regions. Additionally, the Open Series is scheduled for late October, and the Elite Series is set to return from December 4, 2026, to January 16, 2027, with a global prize pool of $1,338,000 USD.
