Batu Pahat: Two-year-old girl severely injured in stray dog attack

A two-year-old girl, Nur Haira Watikah Mohammad Hamizi, sustained severe injuries to her head and face after being attacked by five stray dogs in Kampung Tambak, Sungai Kelambu, Batu Pahat. The incident occurred around 7:00 AM in front of her grandmother's house while the child was drinking milk near her siblings.

The victim was initially rushed to Hospital Sultanah Nora Ismail (HSNI), where she was treated in the red zone and required sedation. Due to the severity of her injuries, she was subsequently transferred to Hospital Sultanah Aminah (HSA) in Johor Bahru.

The incident has raised urgent calls for local authorities to address the growing issue of stray dogs in residential areas. Critics argue that local councils must implement more consistent monitoring and capture operations, alongside better management of pet abandonment and uncontrolled breeding, to prevent future attacks.
