Batu targets UNESCO Creative Cities Network 2027 status
The city of Batu is preparing for the second stage of the national selection for the 2027 UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN). Following successful passage through the first stage conducted by the Ministry of Creative Economy, the city will present its dossier to the National Selection Committee on September 2, 2026.
Batu’s candidacy is centered on the theme “Batu Agrokreatif – From Mountain Agriculture to Global Gastronomy.” The proposal emphasizes a “Living Mountain Gastronomy Ecosystem,” positioning local food traditions and mountain agriculture as a vital creative economy. This concept integrates a community-based economic chain involving farmers, MSMEs, cooperatives, local markets, hotels, restaurants, and tourism villages.
Mayor Nurochman led strategic briefings to finalize the presentation, which is limited to 10 minutes. The delegation includes Nurochman, the Head of Bappelitbangda Bangun Yulianto, the Chairman of BPC PHRI Batu Sujud Hariadi, and UCCN Dossier Team Coordinator Alan W. Hafiluddin.
