Batwara 1947 film releases new poster emphasizing hope during Partition
The makers of the upcoming Indian film *Batwara 1947* unveiled a new poster that depicts Lord Krishna beside Urdu inscriptions on a ruined wall. The caption reads, “When the world chose sides, HE chose dharma,” highlighting the film’s theme of courage and humanity amid the 1947 Partition.
The period drama, directed by Rajkumar Santoshi and produced by Aamir Khan Productions, features an ensemble cast that includes Sunny Deol, Preity Zinta, Shabana Azmi, Karan Deol, Ali Fazal and others. Music is composed by A.R. Rahman with lyrics by Javed Akhtar. The movie is slated for a worldwide theatrical release on 14 August 2026, coinciding with India’s Independence Day and the anniversary of Partition. Reports note that the film’s story remains banned in Pakistan. The poster and the film aim to capture the hope and resilience that emerged during one of the subcontinent’s most turbulent chapters.
