Baubescheid+ digitizes construction permit processes in Austria

The digital construction permit system, Baubescheid+, has been premiered at a mayors' conference. Developed specifically for the Lower Austrian building code, the system aims to digitize the complex administrative processes of municipal construction departments.

Created through a collaboration between Kommunalnet, KI², and the municipality of Wiener Neudorf, the tool transitions paper-based files into a unified digital workflow. This process involves citizens, building departments, experts, and neighbors in a shared, transparent system. Currently undergoing practical testing in Wiener Neudorf, the solution is designed to ensure data sovereignty for municipalities by hosting solutions within Austria rather than being tied to a single AI provider.

Expansion of the system to other federal states is currently under consideration.
