Bauchi Police arrest woman following death of six-year-old boy

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 23-year-old Fatima Ibrahim following the death of her six-year-old stepson, Mubarak Ibrahim, in Kwaimawa village, Alkaleri Local Government Area.

The incident occurred on October 16, 2026, when the boy allegedly consumed a beverage provided by the suspect. Shortly after drinking, Mubarak began vomiting uncontrollably. He was initially treated at the Primary Health Care Centre in Kwaimawa before being transferred to the Federal Medical Centre in Gombe. Despite medical efforts, the child died on October 24.

Detectives initiated the investigation after receiving a report from the village head of Kwaimawa. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Bauchi. Commissioner of Police Sani-Omolori Aliyu expressed grief over the incident and pledged that the command would pursue justice for the deceased child.
