Bauchi police arrest woman for allegedly poisoning husband

The Bauchi State Police Command has arrested 19-year-old Aisha Musa for allegedly attempting to poison her husband in Gwamma Village, Bauchi Local Government Area. The incident occurred on August 12, 2026, approximately 40 days after the couple's wedding.

Police reported that Musa allegedly introduced a poisonous substance into her husband's meal. Following a distress call, officers recovered an empty bottle suspected to have contained the toxin, along with remnants of the food, which have been taken as exhibits. The victim was rushed to the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University Teaching Hospital, where he is reported to be in stable condition and responding to treatment.

According to Superintendent of Police Nafiu Habib, the suspect allegedly made a confessional statement during interrogation. The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) for further investigation before formal charges are filed.
