Bauchi State Governor delivers gratuity to ailing retired teacher
Bauchi State Governor Bala Mohammed has directed the state's Gratuity Payment Committee to deliver entitlements directly to retirees unable to travel due to illness. Following this directive, committee members visited the residence of Haruna Sabo, a 71-year-old retired teacher, in the Ningi Local Government Area.
Sabo, who served in the state's education sector for 35 years, received his gratuity cheque and a personal letter of commendation from the Governor. The committee noted that Sabo was among several beneficiaries identified as being too weak or sick to attend official distribution ceremonies in the state capital.
The administration recently released over N11 billion to settle outstanding gratuities for retirees from 2012 to 2015. Officials stated that the committee has cleared payments for the 2012 and 2013 batches, with disbursements for the 2014 and 2015 batches scheduled to begin next week.
