Bauchi State Secures $91.6 Million ECOWAS Loan and Saudi Investment MoUs
Governor Bala Abdulkadir Mohammed of Bauchi State announced that the state has secured a US$91.6 million infrastructure financing agreement with the ECOWAS Bank for Investment and Development, backed by a federal guarantee and slated for disbursement in August. The loan will fund several road projects, including the Mararraban‑Liman, Katagum‑Bununu, Soro‑Miya, Gumau‑Kaduna border, and Bara‑Wanka roads, as well as urban renewal works in the state capital.
In parallel, the Bauchi government signed two Memoranda of Understanding with Saudi Arabia’s Golden Contractors Group, represented by CEO Muhammad Faisal Al‑Harbi. The agreements cover cooperation across agriculture, solid minerals, oil and gas, tourism, aviation, housing, and Hajj‑Umrah services, with plans to develop direct air links to Saudi Arabia and establish an export processing zone and inland dry port. The governor said the state has already attracted investment commitments exceeding US$5.7 billion through its drive for multi‑sector development.
