Bautzen launches new Legend Trail to showcase Sorbian folklore

The city of Bautzen has launched the Bautzen Legend Trail, a new walking tour designed to showcase the regional and Sorbian folklore of the Lusatia region. The route features 10 stations throughout the historic old town, where visitors can engage with local legends through interactive elements and audio content accessible via the SmartGuide app or web browser.

Developed through a 2024 participatory process involving city management, local stakeholders, and administrative partners, the project aims to revitalize the city center and boost tourism, trade, and leisure activities. Saxon State Minister for Culture and Tourism, Barbara Klepsch, noted during the opening that the legends of Lusatia are inextricably linked to the Sorbian people, language, and culture.
