Bavaria allocates millions in stabilization aid to municipalities
The Free State of Bavaria is distributing significant financial aid to various municipalities to support budget consolidation and ensure local administrative capabilities. In Middle Franconia, approximately 26.4 million euros are being allocated to ten municipalities. The city of Fürth is set to receive 11 million euros, the highest single allocation in the region, while Cadolzburg will receive 285,000 euros.
In the Swabia region, more than 18 million euros in demand-based allocations and stabilization aids are being distributed among Lauingen, Kaufbeuren, Füssen, and Oberostendorf. Specific amounts include 8.4 million euros for Füssen, 6.7 million euros for Kaufbeuren, 2.57 million euros for Lauingen, and 482,900 euros for Oberostendorf.
Finance and Home Minister Albert Füracker stated that these funds are intended to help financially weak municipalities maintain their ability to perform central tasks and improve quality of life. Stabilization aid, which has been available since 2012, follows a two-pillar model for cities and municipalities: it can be used for debt repayment or as investment aid for mandatory tasks. These measures target areas facing structural weaknesses, negative demographic developments, or unforeseen financial difficulties caused by rising social standards and legal requirements.
