Bavaria braces for severe traffic jams and storm warnings during Fronleichnam weekend

The end of the Pentecost holidays in Bavaria coincides with the long Fronleichnam weekend on June 4, prompting the ADAC to warn of especially heavy traffic. The club expects Wednesday, June 3, to be the busiest day, with additional congestion on Saturday, June 6, and Sunday, June 7, as holiday‑makers return northward. Several motorways—including sections of the A7, A8, A93, B2/B23, A3, A6, A7, A8 and the A99 ring around Munich—are forecast to experience long queues, and a stretch of the A96 near Lindau will be closed from the evening of June 3 to the morning of June 7.

At the same time, the German Weather Service has issued wind and storm warnings for many Bavarian districts, with gusts up to 70 km/h in the north and the possibility of up to five centimeters of new‑snow in high‑altitude areas of the south such as Oberallgäu, Garmisch‑Partenkirchen and Berchtesgaden. The warnings cover multiple counties across Upper, Lower, Middle and Swabian Bavaria and remain in effect through the early morning hours of June 5‑6.
