Bavaria honors twelve butcheries for exceptional craftsmanship

The Bavarian state government has honored twelve butcheries for exceptional craftsmanship. This year, the number of award recipients increased from ten to twelve, with eight businesses achieving a maximum score of 5.0.

To qualify for the state honor, businesses must demonstrate outstanding results for five consecutive years. The selection process involved a jury that evaluated applicants through the ‘Metzger Cup’ and DLG testing. Among the winners is Metzgerei Delle from Gundelfingen, which was recognized for its family tradition.

State Minister Michaela Kaniber emphasized the importance of the trade, stating that ‘meat has a future.’ Bavaria remains a central player in the German meat industry, hosting approximately 2,462 butcheries and around 1,600 EU-approved slaughterhouses.
