Bavaria hosts agricultural festivals and botanical exhibitions
Various harvest-themed events are scheduled in Bavaria. In Bayreuth, the Upper Franconia district and the Bayreuth Landjugend-Kreisverband will host the Erntedankfest on October 4. Held at the Agricultural Teaching Institutes, the festival features an ecumenical service, folk dancing competitions, and prize ceremonies for harvest crowns. The event includes insights into livestock farming, with a focus on sheep husbandry to mark the 75th anniversary of the Association of Upper Franconian Sheep Breeders. Additionally, over 80 exhibitors will present agricultural technology, education, and renewable energy topics.
Separately, the Botanical Garden is hosting a special exhibition from September 26 to October 4 in its Winter Hall. This exhibition focuses on the history and growing importance of exotic crops, such as artichokes, quinoa, ginger, and lemongrass, which are increasingly being cultivated in Bavarian fields due to changing climates and agricultural shifts.
