Bavaria proposes tax relief and less bureaucracy for German non-profits
The Bavarian state government has announced a plan to significantly reduce the tax burden and administrative workload for non-profit associations across Germany. Following a cabinet meeting in Munich, Minister President Markus Söder stated that the goal is to provide substantial financial relief to these organizations.
The Bavarian Council has approved a Bundesrat initiative aimed at implementing higher tax-free thresholds and reducing bureaucracy on a federal level. Key components of the proposal include doubling the profit tax exemption for non-profit events from 5,000 to 10,000 euros and doubling the taxation threshold to 100,000 euros.
Finance Minister Albert Füracker emphasized that associations are vital to social cohesion and should be supported rather than burdened by bureaucracy. The proposal also includes allowing small non-profit associations to use simplified tax returns and calls for the total abolition of the requirement for the timely use of funds.
