Bavaria weather warnings issued for heavy rain and meteor shower peak
The German Weather Service (DWD) has issued a level 2 warning for continuous rain in several districts of southern Bavaria. Heavy rainfall is expected to begin on Thursday, October 8, with amounts ranging between 30 and 40 liters per square meter, potentially reaching up to 50 liters in certain areas. The warning is set to remain in effect until early Friday morning.
In addition to the rain, northern Bavaria may experience wind gusts. Authorities have warned that heavy rain could lead to flooded streets and underpasses.
Separately, the Draconid meteor shower is visible in the night sky from October 6 to October 10. The shower, which originates from the dust of comet 21P/Giacobini-Zinner, is expected to peak on the night of October 8 to October 9 around 3:00 AM. This year, the shower is predicted to be relatively weak, with an estimated rate of approximately five meteors per hour.
