Bavarian agricultural sector reports leadership changes and harvest challenges

Various developments and reports within the Bavarian agricultural sector highlight regional leadership changes, harvest challenges, and industry gatherings.

In Lower Bavaria, the Bavarian Farmers' Association (BBV) district association elected Siegfried Jäger as district president and Sebastian Dickow as deputy president. Additionally, Claudia Erndl was elected as the new district farmer for Lower Bavaria, with Rosmarie Mattis serving as her deputy.

In Upper Franconia, the 2024 harvest press briefing reported that farmers expect average to slightly below-average yields for grain crops. Despite high precipitation, excessive moisture and low temperatures have hindered the yield potential of barley, rye, and wheat, while also increasing the risk of fungal diseases and weeds.
