Bavarian commission proposes sweeping bureaucracy reforms
A parliamentary commission in Bavaria has released a final report calling for decisive measures to reduce bureaucracy. After two years of expert consultations, the commission issued 193 recommendations to the state government and parliament.
Key proposals include reviewing the necessity of all state specialist agencies, with the potential to abolish or merge certain offices to streamline administration. The report suggests integrating specific tasks into regional governments or local district offices. Additionally, the commission recommends that municipalities pool tasks to create more efficient administrative units to combat personnel shortages and increasing complexity.
The report also questions the current high rate of civil servant appointments, suggesting that the quota should be significantly reduced. Beyond structural reorganization, the commission advocates for increased digitalization and the implementation of artificial intelligence within public administration.
