Bavarian companies express high loyalty to state location
A survey conducted by IW Consult on behalf of the Association of the Bavarian Economy reveals that 91.5 percent of 700 surveyed companies would choose to settle in Bavaria again. This figure represents the highest level of loyalty since 2022, though it remains below the levels of over 95 percent seen in the previous decade.
While loyalty remains high, companies rated the overall quality of the business location at an average of 72.5 out of 100 points. This score is stable compared to 2025 but lower than the scores of over 75 recorded in 2019 and 2020.
Regional analysis shows that Upper Bavaria leads in location quality with 76.9 points, followed by Swabia with 75.9 points. Swabia also recorded the highest regional loyalty at 86.3 percent. Bertram Brossardt, Managing Director of vbw, noted that while the commitment to the state is a significant signal, the long-term decline in location quality necessitates improvements to framework conditions to secure future prosperity and jobs.
