Bavarian Dementia Week offers free screenings and community events in Bad Kissingen and Deggendorf

As part of the 7th Bavarian Dementia Week, Bad Kissingen will host a free dementia‑screening on Thursday, 24 September, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the district office. The test, aimed at residents aged 65 and older who have noticed memory changes, is organized by Team GutePflege Landkreis Bad Kissingen together with the Digital Dementia Register Bavaria (digiDEM Bayern). Participation is free but limited, and appointments must be booked in advance.

In the Deggendorf district, a series of free events will run during the same week. A cinema evening on 21 September will show the film “Romys Salon” at the Lichtspielhaus Deggendorf, followed by an information stand from the Bavarian Red Cross. On 22 September, chief physicians Dr. Peter Kolbinger and Dr. Bernd Weigel will give a lecture on living with dementia at the Bürgerspital Plattling. A guided tour of the acute‑geriatric ward at the DONAUISAR Klinikum Deggendorf is scheduled for 24 September, showcasing patient‑room design and therapeutic facilities. All activities aim to raise awareness, improve understanding, and provide support for people affected by dementia and their families.
